Proud of our Founders and mindful of our distinguished past, Ockenden is excited about the future and looks to make a difference in our local communities
Community enrichment
Over the years, we’ve been active in charitable work and dedicated ourselves to supporting local communities through various philanthropic initiatives. Whether contributing to educational programmes or healthcare facilities or aiding those in need, Ockenden Lodge exemplifies the Masonic commitment to kindness and being always mindful of the needs of others.
Personal development: become the best version of yourself
We also have a ceremonial role. You may have heard about the ceremonies of Initiation, Passing and Raising to the Third Degree. These ceremonies, performed by brethren at Lodge meetings, are fun and engaging. Still, through good storytelling, they also have messages to impart – messages that are relevant to every one of us today. The stories that unfold help brethren develop a greater awareness of the Supreme Being (or God), themselves and the needs of others.
“Learning – or making a daily advancement in masonic knowledge – is part and parcel of Freemasonry.”
Iain – Director of Ceremonies
If you join Ockenden Lodge, you’ll be expected to play a full part in these ceremonies, to learn lines and how to deliver them to convey their meaning. Many new masons grow in confidence as they learn to perform these lines in the Lodge room. At first, some of this language may seem formal and unfamiliar, but it’s a joy when you get to grips with it.
